On the TWENTY FIRST day of Christmas The Spice Trader gave to me:


TURMERIC & GINGER - We have also added a little black pepper. This is for your golden lattes, your smoothies, or your sauteed veggies.

A beautiful balance of earthiness, spice, heat and sweet.

Here is a recipe for orange olive oil & turmeric, ginger sugar cake.

2 eggs

Grated zest of 1 lemon & 1 orange

3/4 cup of granulated sugar

1/2 cup of turmeric ginger sugar

3/4 cup of milk

3/4 cup of orange olive oil 

1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

pinch of salt


Preheat the oven to 350º

Line a 9 inch round cake pan with parchment paper. Oil the sides with a little olive oil and dust with flour. Stir eggs, zest, sugar, milk, and olive oil in a medium bowl. In a another bowl mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until combined. Pour the batter into a cake pan and bake for 40 -50 minutes until a tester comes out clean. Let it cool for 10 minutes and then turn it out on a rack.
