Tamarind Powder

OPTIONS

TAMARIND is native to Asia and Africa but is now widely grown and used in many countries around the world including India, Mexico and the Middle East. The word tamarind comes from the Arabic tamar hind, which means “Indian date.” It has a sour but fruity taste. Most tamarind comes in the form of a paste, ours is powdered which can make it a little more versatile.

SUGGESTED USES: To make a paste from the powder, add equal parts water and powder. It is a wonderful addition to many rubs and sauces and is a key ingredient in chutneys. Try sprinkling a little on roasted nuts.
