CHINESE FIVE SPICE powder is used in all kinds of Chinese cooking, especially with fatty foods like duck, goose and pork. Each component brings something unique to the table: STAR ANISE is pungent, CINNAMON is sweet, PEPPER is hot, FENNEL is sour, and CLOVES are sharp. It is also used in some Hawaiian and Vietnamese cuisine. Try dry roasting a little with some salt for a wonderful vegetable sprinkle.
