CHIPOTLE CHILIS are actually smoked jalapeño peppers that date back to the times of the Aztecs; smoking was a way of preserving ripened jalapeño peppers. This chili has all the heat of the Jalapeño, plus a beautiful, sweet, smoky flavour, with notes of tobacco and chocolate. This is a hugely versatile chili that can add a wonderful flavour to most BBQ recipes or simply be lightly sprinkled onto corn on the cob.
SUGGESTED USES: Try adding to mayonnaise with a squirt of lime for a great tasting dip, or add to a big pot of chili con carne for a lovely smoky flavour! Whole chilis can be used either by grinding them into a powder or by rehydrating them (See below).
