People invent the craziest things! This is a tomato corer ( it can also be used on strawberries). This is perfect when you need to prep many tomatoes for sauce, or soup or blanching.
I can't find out who invented this handy tool - the large machine corer was patented in 1923 - but that doesn't help our story. Tomatoes are from the Americas so maybe some industrious individual created and wanted to share it with the world. Enjoy.
