Cinnamon Buns
So sticky and yummy!
INGREDIENTS
DOUGH
3 cups of flour ( all purpose)
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 Tbsp baking powder
2/3 cup cold butter
1 1/2 cups buttermilk*
FILLING
1/4 cup melted butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
CARAMEL
4 Tbsp Butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup of cream ( half and half)*
* Buttermilk can be made with regular milk and lemon juice. 1 cup of whole milk/1 tbsp lemon juice. Let it stand for 5 - 10 minutes and then it is ready.
* Half and half is : 50% milk/50% cream.
DIRECTIONS
preheat 375º
Dough
Mix all the dry stuff and then blend in the cold butter make it into coarse crumbs. Add the buttermilk and mix into dough. Roll it out into the rectangle.
Filling
Brush the dough with melted butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar, and cinnamon. Starting with the edge close to you, roll dough into a jelly roll shape. Cut into 12 pinwheels.
Caramel
Melt the butter in a saucepans. Whisk in brown sugar and cream. Cook mixture for 5-8 minutes until smooth. Pour into a 9 inch pie plate. (optional - sprinkle nuts over the caramel)
Place the 12 pinwheels in the pie dish over the caramel.
Bake for 45 minutes cool 5 minutes.
