Szechuan Sauce

    Szechuan Sauce

    This is a great sauce for using in a stir fry, or as a marinade.

    It adds, spice, and zing.

    Ingredients

    1 tsp szechuan peppercorns

    1/4 cup soy sauce

    3 Tbsp maple syrup

    1 Tbsp sesame oil

    1 Tbsp rice wine vinegar

    1 Tbsp mirin

    3 cloves of garlic - minced

    2 tsp ginger minced

    1 tsp chili flakes ( for heat /optional)

    1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice

    2 tsp cornstarch ( for thickening/ optional)

    salt to taste.

    Directions

    Toast the szechuan peppercorns in a hot , dry skillet over medium heat for about 1 - 2 minutes.

    Blend all the spices together and whisk until well combined.

    Use this sauce in a stir fry, or you can thicken it if using as a marinade.
