Popcorn - 5 sweet, spicy, salty toppings
All of these recipes are for 1/2 cup of air popped popcorn.
HIBISCUS SUGAR POPCORN
I absolutely love this one - the citrus notes of the hibiscus give dimension to the traditional sweet/salty popcorn. This topping is sour, sweet and salty - 4 Tbsp of hibiscus sugar, 1/2 Tbsp kosher salt, 1/4 cup of olive oil ( or butter, or any other oil).
HOT SMOKED PAPRIKA POPCORN
This is like spicy, bbq popcorn. Great for anyone who likes heat and salt and...popcorn. Toss popcorn in 1/4 cup of olive oil ( or other topping) , then add 2 Tsp of hot smoked paprika and 1/2 Tsp kosher salt.
SUMAC POPCORN
A sour /salty delicious bite. Sumac is a sour berry and it marries well the popcorn with or without salt. Toss popcorn in 1/4 cup of olive oil, and then add 3 Tbsp sumac and 2 Tsp kosher salt.
HERBES DE PROVENCE POPCORN
A lovely green herby addition to popcorn. Toss 1/4 olive oil ( buttery French olive oil if you have it), then add 4 Tbsp of HdeP and 1/2 Tbsp kosher salt.
ROSE HARISSA & HIBISCUS SUGAR POPCORN
This one ticks all the boxes: sweet, hot, salty, sour! Toss 1/4 cup olive oil ( or other oil/melted butter) , then add 2 Tbsp hibiscus sugar, 1 Tbsp rose harissa, 1 tsp kosher salt.
